Hi! I'm Josep Sànchez Arbona, I'm 22 years old and I like photography, cinema and especially the conceptual art process for video games. I consider myself an artist attempt with technological skills.

Since I was young I have always been a very creative person; I loved creating my own fantasy worlds and drawing the characters that lived in them. At that time I met a group of friends who introduced me to the world of video games with Pokemon, which I currently have as a reference.

At the time of deciding what to study, I decided to professionalize myself in the design and development of videogames; studying a career at the CITM, Terrassa. That degree was very specialized in design and programming, so I decided to learn many things related to art in a self-taught way. I really like learning new things and being able to apply them in new areas.

When I was 11 years old, my older brother taught me how to edit my first videos. He also helped me to have the vision of cinema and photography that I have today. I have participated in different short films and I have edited video clips for music bands. I have touched many programs of edition, programming, drawing, etc during my adolescence.

In 2021 I started working as a QA for university internships at Innovamat, a company that creates tools to learn mathematics at the school level. Since then I continue working there in the interactive content team for Primary. One of my main tasks is to check that the quality of the product is adequate, also following Agile processes.

In 2022 I created my first concept book for a fictional video game for 3 months. In that book I was able to explore different types of concept art and get feedback from important people in the sector. Since then, I continue to explore different ways of drawing and creating characters.

The name of Soulters comes from the composition of the words “soul” and “monster”. The fantastic world will be based in Terres de l’Ebre, an area in southern Catalonia where natural landscapes predominate.

The story explains the development of a nation that, with the help of the ARBO power, has been able to evolve by fusioning with the surrounding creatures. In the region there are different legends that frighten the population, so the protagonist must face them to obtain divine power and resurrect the population of the ancient region.

In 2022 I made the first concept book that includes the main characters and the first Soulters of the adventure. I am currently expanding the book to include more characters and story elements.

The Mandalorian: Ashes of the empire is fast-paced roguelite with an emphasis on ranged combat and constant repositioning. The player controls Din Djarin, the Mandalorian. Readying himself before a crucial mission, Mando shares a drink with his allies in a canteen, remembering and retelling a past mission in which he took on a crusade against Moff Gideon.

This video game was created on an own engine. The development lasted 3 and a half months and a team of 30 people worked on it. Within this project I was the main person in charge of the concept art of the characters and the UI.

Between Worlds is a demo video game in which you can control a protagonist capable of traveling between dimensional portals. These portals make you take advantage of the terrain to use different mechanics: climb lianas, pass between rings of fire, etc. There are intentions to remake the game with Unity and add more levels and mechanics.

This game was made by 2 people within a period of three months for the Videogame Development subject of the Videogame Design and Development degree. Because the project was organized with small groups, I did a variety of tasks. I was the base artist of the character, the main programmer (C++) and the person in charge of the final trailer of the game.

Mythology Parade is a game made by 8 people in a period of three months for the Project 2 subject of the Video Game Design and Development degree. In this project I was the art director and responsible for the creation of the trailer. For the art part I made all the UI and characters sprites and the optimization of these images.

The game is an RTS where the player's main objective will be to impose his religion on top of the others. You must collect resources well and choose your path: a chaotic one where you kill enemies or a peaceful one.

This project was carried out for the 3D Scenarios subject of the Video Game Design and Development degree. The main idea of the project was to create a new 3D setting for a game based on the world of The Witcher.

The following trailer shows various images of the player's journey through the map. Images of the group members also appear, providing information about the development and some design and art decisions of the project.
